Time management is something I have been failing at since I was born. I have tried numerous strategies like making timetables and waking up early, but nothing seemed to work. It’s been almost a decade of trying and testing techniques that always fail because I do not tend to stick to them. Not sticking to people and emotions come second, not adhering to timetables still remains the first. I am always unable to convince myself to come to terms with the idea that I have to follow a monotonous routine daily. The Pomodoro technique debunks the misconception for me.

As Amal Academy is all about improving myself, this time, we were assigned the task of effectively manage our time through the Pomodoro technique. Like its name, the method is also quite interesting and exciting.

The task I chose to complete doing this technique was Course two: creating a #superhero resume (clever na, I know 😜). Initially, I found it really hard and kept on looking at my phone for the alarm to ring, and I can use my phone again. But gradually, it got easier for me to focus on my work and not glance at my phone every few minutes. This technique also made me realize how much I check my phone during any work I am doing, especially while studying. The technique was actually fuelling my temptation positively as such that I started considering using my phone as a reward of those consistent 25 minutes. Also, I enjoyed using my cellphone more, owing to the fact that I have got something productive done.

I will be honest; this activity made me feel more productive than before. I also got things done in lesser time than I used to prior to this. It always kept me wondering why do I spend 50 minutes on a 5-minute task; after applying this technique, I got to know the real reason behind it.

I actually did follow this technique after completing the course for other tasks as well. It actually worked effectively for me, and I am planning to employ this for more and more of my future tasks, from studying to getting house chores done. In order to enhance the experience, I will choose more extended time frames so that I can get done with my work in that specific period. Additionally, I can use another instrument for the timer instead of my phone so that I immediately don’t grab it the second the alarm beeps.
